Hi all!
It's hard to believe that it's already heading into fall! We hope that you had the opportunity to celebrate PRIDE at the many summer events, but there are still events happening through October 11-12...check out www.thebuckeyeflame.com/2024/06/24/2024-ohio-lgbtq-pride-guide/
for events, including the TransOhio Symposium and Rainbow Weekend in Kent in October for Coming Out Day (October 11).
OutSupport has been included in the Ohio Transgender Resource Guide 2024. This guide has statewide resources for those in need of information regarding transgender healthcare, advocacy groups, and more.
Our friends at the Gay Community Endowment Fund will be hosting their Sugar Plum Tour of Holiday Homes on Sunday, Dec. 8 (in person) and Dec. 14-15 (virtual) You can now purchase early bird tickets before Nov. 1 at www.sugarplumtour.org
OutSupport has been lucky enough to have received funding from the GCEF for several years, and when you participate in this really fun fundraising event, organizations like OutSupport can keep doing the things we do to support the LGBTQ communities in the greater Akron area!
SUPER IMPORTANT!!! We can't stress enough how important it is to
1) Check your voting registration status, update your registration (have you moved or changed your name? CHECK YOUR STATUS!!), or REGISTER TO VOTE here:
www.ohiosos.gov. This site also has a calendar of voting dates and deadlines. The deadline to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 7. Early voting starts Oct. 8, and Election Day is Nov. 5.
2) Make a plan to vote! Have you heard of Project 2025? Essentially, it is the conservative playbook if the Republican candidate wins. This includes removing Federal protections for LGBTQ+, reversing the rule allowing transgender persons to serve in the military, and enforcing a "biblically based" (read: one man and one woman) definition of marriage and family, as well as many other issues that may affect our freedoms. Please be aware of this as you cast your ballot.

This is being offered by The Medina Mavens, a fairly new group that any "mama bears" would likely feel right at home with! Check them out on Facebook, and find a home for activism for Democracy (lots of mama bears in this group ;))
OutSupport will be offering our Transgender 101 at The Safe Conversation Conference at The Ohio State University Mansfield Campus on Friday, Sept. 20 from 8:00am-4:00pm, along with many other organizations presenting, with lunch included. Our friends at Love on a Mission are hosts for the conference, and they do a great service in the Richland/Ashland Counties for LGBTQ+ support and advocacy. OutSupport is happy to have provided 3 binders for area trans and non-binary youth in August. If you have any young person in the NEOhio area who needs a binder or tucking undergarments, please have them reach out to us. We are more than happy to provide these for young people!
TransOhio has a new brochure out, defining their really important work here in Ohio, with links to the different resources that they offer. Check it out at www.transohio.org or attached.
OK...we hope you have a really great September, and hope you can make it to some of the events listed above!
